White Label brings together five boroughs to support business innovation in South London

November 2022 saw the White Label team deliver BIG South London Business Innovation + Growth Summit, an event which brought together stakeholders from across higher education, local authorities and businesses to discuss how innovation can be developed to support jobs, skills and economic development across the five South London boroughs.

Held at Kingston University’s award-winning Town House, BIG’s first large-scale event brought together almost 300 delegates from across Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Sutton and Croydon, to hear from leading keynote speakers as well as panel discussions, breakout sessions, an exhibition, and an awards ceremony.

White Label worked with the BIG team to coordinate all of the event logistics from programme curation, venue and speaker coordination and briefing, delegate management and on-site delivery, as well as supporting the marketing campaign with a comprehensive social media and e-mailer campaign, further supported by reporting of each session at the event for a wider audience reach.

Innovation as the guiding theme dominated the agenda across the day. Featured discussions included innovative collaborations and opportunities across industries, the importance of clusters, how businesses can develop and thrive by working with higher education institutions and how local authorities can facilitate innovative projects and ideas.

Among the highlights of the summit were keynotes by Prof. Paul Workman, Harrap Professor of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, ICR, and Prof. Richard Templer, Director of Innovation at the Grantham Institute, Imperial College London. The awards ceremony saw Cllr. Gareth Roberts, Leader of Richmond Borough Council and Cllr. Andreas Kirsch, Leader of Kingston Borough Council involved in presenting the awards.

Julie Leggatt, Associate Director at White Label Creative said: “The networking aspect of the event, particularly the break-out sessions, was a real success. Smaller groups helped people get to know more about each other and explore topics they were interested in. Logistics-wise, the event had to be postponed due to the Queen’s passing, however, we worked with the client to ensure the transition to the new date was smooth for both our delegates and speakers.”
