Ideas on recruiting and retaining employees were a central part of the discussion at the latest Barwell Business Breakfast: Recruitment & Skills.
The event, a partnership between Barwell Business Park in Chessington, and Kingston Chamber of Commerce, was organised by White Label.
White Label promoted the event, secured the panel of speakers and organised the breakfast catering, with the aim of bringing businesses from the park and wider area together to network and gain up-to-date information on the topic.
Welcoming attendees to the event at the park’s showcase unit 50 on 22 November, Chamber Chief Executive Forbes Low, said: “The point of this is really to start and to continue the conversations which many of us have had internally, about skills, retention of staff, future employability, and what is going on in this particular sector.”
Ken Butcher, Asset Manager, Aviva Investors, which owns Barwell Business Park, added: “There are estimated to be over a million unfilled roles in the UK at the moment, yet a very low unemployment rate of only about 3.6 per cent. This is reflective of a national issue and one likely to be just as relevant for people and companies at the park, as well as for the wider area.”
The event is the latest in a series of events organised by White Label on behalf of the business park and chamber of commerce. Previously, they have included a business breakfast focusing on sustainability; a webinar offering businesses advice on taking up opportunities emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic; and a ‘Love Barwell’ Valentine’s event where occupiers networked over coffee and biscuits.
White Label also support Barwell Business Park with unit promotions, exhibiting at expos and social media management.
