The Role
Applicants should have extensive experience in web design, particularly within the WordPress ecosystem, and a solid understanding of UI/UX principles, expertise in responsive web design, and proficiency in design tools such as Elementor and Adobe XD or Figma.
As the web development manager, you will be responsible for creating and overseeing the digital projects, their strategies and ensuring our digital products and experiences meet the highest standards of creativity and usability.
You will be working closely with project managers, our marketing and communications teams as well as liaising directly with clients to make sure briefs are met on time and to budget.
A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating past work on WordPress and user-centric design projects is required as well as track record in the setup, management and maintenance of WordPress websites.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Website Design and Build: Create and build visually appealing websites in WordPress that are both functional and user-friendly, ensuring designs are in line with the company’s or clients branding and visual guidelines.
• Design Standards: Establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all digital touchpoints.
• Wireframes and Prototypes: Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize design concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders.
• User Experience (UX): Design intuitive and engaging user experiences by understanding user needs and incorporating user feedback.
• Website Management: Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of company websites, ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability.
• SEO Optimization: Implement and monitor SEO strategies to improve search engine rankings and drive organic traffic.
• Analytics and Reporting: Use web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to monitor website performance, analyse data, and generate reports to guide decision-making.
• Project Management: Coordinate web projects from concept to completion, working with cross-functional teams and managing timelines and budgets.
• Client Collaboration: Collaborate with clients or stakeholders to understand their design requirements and deliver solutions that exceed their expectations.
• Hosting Management: Liaise with external supplier and service providers for web hosting, domain registration, and other web-related services.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for website issues and work with IT teams to resolve technical problems.
• Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and lead the adoption of innovative design practices within the organization.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Web Development or similar
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience at a senior or manager level in digital design and web development (WordPress) with experience in website management, maintenance and a good understanding of graphic design and its principles.
Required Skills
• Extensive experience in designing, building and maintaining WordPress websites
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Sketch, Figma or similar tools.
• Extensive knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Experience with content management systems (CMS), particularly WordPress.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and tools.
• Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Search Console.
• Understanding of web security protocols and best practices.
