Ten years ago White Label and Wimbledon BID hosted the Future Wimbledon Conference, and the two organisations worked together once again to produce a conference to promote South West London’s premier destination.
The day long Evolving Wimbledon Development Conference, supported by Merton Council, was held at the newly refurbished Polka Theatre on Tuesday 1 October. The conference showcased to investors, developers, agents, retailers, commercial businesses and landowners the growth that Wimbledon is currently experiencing and the opportunities Wimbledon can offer them moving forward.
Conference sessions included Wimbledon’s Workplaces; Culture and Wimbledon’s Visitor Economy; Perception versus Reality; People and Places Creating a Sustainable High Street and Sport as a driver of economic success.
Delegates heard keynote addresses from Howard Dawber, Deputy Mayor of London for Business, Cllr Ross Garrod, Leader, Merton Council, Debbie Jevans CBE, Chair of The All England Lawn Tennis Club, and Diane Wehrle, CEO & Founder, Rendle Intelligence and Insights.
Craig Hurring, Chief Executive, Love Wimbledon BID, commented: “Love Wimbledon BID and White Label have created the Evolving Wimbledon Development Conference to celebrate Wimbledon’s success and to ensure we maximise opportunities for future growth and prosperity.”
The event received support from The All England Lawn Tennis Club, Merton Chamber of Commerce, UAL: Wimbledon College of Arts, Huddle, Wimbledon Quarter, and Time & Leisure.
