Easter fun draws visitors to vibrant Queen’s Square

The ongoing work to re-establish Queen’s Square at the heart of Croydon town centre was showcased over Easter, with an event organised by White Label.

R&F’s development of the civic space, including St George’s Walk and the former Nestle tower, is part of a major project to rejuvenate the area. Phase one includes 290 new homes as well as commercial units, and will link to important town centre sites such as Fairfield Halls and Westfield, via attractive public realm.

Over the four days of the Easter weekend, White Label transformed the Queen’s Square marketing suite and surrounding area with turf and picket fencing. Families and passers-by were entertained by an Easter bunny, with a basket full of mini Easter eggs and the opportunity to have their photos taken at the head-in-hole board and cut outs of Easter eggs.

There was also a quiz which took children and their families on a walking tour around the Queen’s Square area, learning details about Croydon town centre’s heritage.

Michael Purefoy, Sales & Marketing Director, R&F Properties said: “Our vision is to create a unique urban quarter located within the heart of Croydon. This Easter eggs-travaganza showcased how we are making that happen, as well as raising the profile of Queen’s Square as a vibrant destination, attracting people to the High Street.”

R&F’s site is bounded to the north by Park Street, Park Lane to the east, Katharine Street to the south and High Street to the west. Construction has already started on phase one, comprising the refurbishment and extension of St. George’s House (the former Nestle tower), Park House East and the former Blue Orchid nightclub.
