White Label continues to support the UK’s micro, small and start-up businesses at a national level through its work with the National Enterprise Network – the country’s leading representative of business support.
Using a mix of PR, social media and White Paper research, White Label has delivered a lobbying campaign for NEN, focusing on the key evidenced issues which need to be addressed at government level for the UK to achieve economic growth.
Recent work has included NEN’s Spring Policy Report – Harnessing the Economic Potential of small and micro businesses; the Manifesto for Change which was presented to all parties pre-election, linking NEN’s research on SME needs to party election pledges and, most recently, the results of NEN’s most recent Barometer survey. The Barometer demonstrated the urgent need for government action as growth had stalled among the small business sector (one of the UK’s largest sector responsible for a third of country’s jobs) due to rising staff costs, post-Brexit export challenges and a lack of business support.
In addition to the surrounding PR campaign, the reports and surveys have been used in meetings with government ministers and opposition parties.
In November White Label supported NEN with the communication for its annual conference. Transform, Grow, Thrive: MSMEs in the Future Economy took place at the x+why Foundry in Birmingham on Thursday 21November and saw a host of speakers from across the UK and Europe take part in panel debates and workshops. Hosted by entrepreneur Oli Barrett, recently named ‘the most connected man in Britain’ by WIRED magazine, the line-up included William Hobbs, Head of UK Multi Asset for sponsors Barclays, Gareth Thomas MP, Minister for Small Business, Services and Exports at the Department for Business and Trade, Angelina Canizarro, deputy director Small Business Strategy, Analysis and International Policy at DBT, as well as Liz Barclay, UK Small Business Commissioner.
