Develop Croydon held its 23rd Investor Tour on 11 May, providing attendees with an exclusive look at Croydon’s history and showcasing the borough’s burgeoning development opportunities.
The White Label Creative team coordinated the event, organising the route, transportation, delegate invites and all logistics on the day. The event began with a networking breakfast and coffee at BoxPark Croydon, followed by introductions from Richard Plant, Chairman of the Develop Croydon Forum and Partner at SHW; Bonnie Stephensmith, Associate Director of Develop Croydon and Associate Director of White Label; and Vanessa Clark, Managing Partner of Chase Sinclair Clark.
Richard Plant said: “Today is about challenging preconceptions you may have about Croydon and demonstrating not only has it massively changed for the better, but the best is still to come. Indeed, there are still opportunities waiting for the right parties but they are going fast.”
Attendees began the tour walking toward Ruskin Square and then went on an electric coach, which headed to Addiscombe Grove. After running north through West Croydon station and observing Croydon’s logistics and industrial facilities around Purley Way, they returned to the town centre for coffee at London Square’s Sales Suite.
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, also joined the group and discussed the borough’s plans and hopes for the future. Investors had a chance to ask questions and learn about engaging with the leadership.
The group then concluded on foot through Croydon’s town centre, stopping at a historic landmark on the high street, the Whitgift Almshouses. Martin Corney, Chief Executive of Whitgift Foundation gave a speech, highlighting the importance of the premises, the event then ended with a networking lunch at 69 Park Lane.
Bonnie Stephensmith said: “This Investor Tour was a great success. Our guides were insightful, infusing humour into hard facts and keeping the entire group engaged and positive. We saw many new faces, even international guests all of whom now have important propositions to consider. We also took a step forward in our sustainability goals with our electric coach. Develop Croydon will continue to connect and inform important stakeholders about the progress of our borough and as it grows and we look forward to hosting the next tour in September.”
