What we were asked to do
The sixth Develop Croydon Conference showcased the borough's growing importance in delivering the capital's housing and job targets under the theme Croydon - London's Future. The purpose was to further promote Croydon's offer as well as to stimulate debate about the key challenges at a time of unprecedented investment and regeneration in the town centre.
How we did it
As well as bringing together an impressive array of speakers of key Croydon investors and decision-makers, headlined by Deputy Mayor of London Sir Edward Lister, we launched a number of new initiatives at the 2015 conference. Main plenary sessions were accompanied by four panel debates. Over lunch, which was provided by Croydon's World Food Market, delegates were given a snapshot of the town by various new initiatives: an investor tour of the town centre, speaker's corner, Croydon In a Minute and our Discover Croydon video. For the first time we produced an App which provided up-to-the-minute updates and information throughout the day and allowed the audience to provide immediate feedback both during and after the event.
And the results speak for themselves
Once again, Develop Croydon provided a unique opportunity for key stakeholders and investors to talk freely and work alongside leading decision-makers. A Meet the Team session held with Croydon Council's development team actively promoted a collaborative approach while an insight into Croydon's contribution to the capital's housebuilding and employment targets highlighted the scale of opportunity both within the metropolitan core and the wider borough. The conference received extensive coverage in the local and trade press and resulted in more than 90 per cent of the audience declaring themselves confident or very confident that Croydon should be among the first choices looking to invest, develop or relocate.
