Croydon's movers and shakers are being urged to book their place at the town's big night of the year – the Croydon Business Excellence Awards on Thursday, October 1.

The black-tie Gala Dinner and Charity Ball, being hosted by renowned broadcaster James Whale, will be a glittering celebration of success, achievement, innovation and enterprise as the borough's business champions of 2015 are unveiled.

The awards ceremony, which takes place in the Arnhem Gallery at Fairfield Halls, is the centrepiece of the glitziest occasion on the borough's business calendar.

The evening kicks off with a chance to network over a glass of bubbly before dining out on a three-course meal with wine. And with so much to celebrate, the night will have a golden theme with guests urged to dress to impress by wearing a touch of gold at this glamorous event.

A full programme of entertainment, organised by Croydon-based events company White Label Creative, also includes music from swing and soul band Stirling Action, a five-star auction in aid of Croydon Commitment and a charity casino.

And the fun doesn't stop there as you can dance the night away to the The Supreme Collective, who have earned a reputation as the capital's best party band with their heady mix of soul funk and pop classics from the 1960s to the present day.

It's a night not to be missed, but with just 300 tickets available you need to book your place now to share in the fun.

Awards director Katharine Glass said: "We feel that the gold theme is especially appropriate for these awards at a time when there is so much to celebrate in Croydon, from the ambition and success of the a thriving local business community pound to the imminent billion pound investment in the town centre.

"It's a great opportunity to dress up and celebrate and this elegance and glamour will also be reflected in the décor and tables, as well as the entertainment we have lined up for the evening."

The awards are backed by Croydon Council and Croydon Chamber of Commerce, with distinguished sponsors including: Handelsbanken, Allianz Global Assistance, Croydon Business Venture, Croydon Advertiser, Interchange, Lark Insurance, Sussex Innovation Centre – Croydon, Veolia and Wing Yip.
