Croydon's first urban beach at Platform, Ruskin Square is set to celebrate the end of a fabulous summer with two amazing parties.
Saint Lucia Tourist Board - the headline supporter of 'Croydon on the Beach' at Schroder UK Real Estate Fund (SREF) & Stanhope's Platform events space - is throwing the 'end-of-season' celebration this Thursday, September 3.
The packed entertainment programme, organised by White Label, features exotic Saint Lucian dancers, a steel band, live music and DJ's. Plus there will be cocktail bars, street food vendors and carnival stalls. The day starts at noon with the World Food Market, while the party kicks off in earnest from late afternoon until 9pm.
The fun starts all over again on Friday, September 4, with food and drink served all day, as the mega Croydon on the Beach 'Wrap Party' serves up fantastic food, drink, cocktails, music and dancing on the real sand beach until 9pm.
Project B, and Beats and Eats in association with Street Cocktails will provide the entertainment, music and drinks and DJ's on both days.
Thursday's Saint Lucia beach party celebrates the beautiful Caribbean island's summer-long support of Croydon's first urban beach.
To mark the occasion, Saint Lucia Tourist Board are also offering the chance to win a luxury, £5,000 trip for two people to the island, by entering an exclusive online competition at www.platformruskinsquare.com
Atlyn Forde, the Saint Lucia Tourist Board director of marketing – UK and Europe, commented: "We look forward to welcoming local residents and workers to the Saint Lucia beach party. It promises to be a fun party with lots of Caribbean flavour.
"The party will be an introduction to the amazing delights visitors can experience whist holidaying in Saint Lucia. We hope to inspire all attendees to visit our simply beautiful island."
SREF & Stanhope's Platform events space is at the heart of their multi-million pound Ruskin Square residential, commercial and retail centre currently under development by East Croydon station.
This key site in Croydon has recently been earmarked for a new Boxpark pop-up mall in 2016, similar to the highly successful and trendy Boxpark centre in Shoreditch.
Platform Ruskin Square has hosted a number of hit events this year, including Wimbledon Live on the big screen TV. The real sand beach, supplied by Silbelco Europe, has run at Platform for six weeks over the summer.
Jason Margrave, development director at Stanhope plc, said: "Platform's busy summer events programme goes from strength to strength, and Croydon on the Beach will again ensure that the site continues to be a vibrant and exciting destination for people in Croydon to enjoy.
"With works on both residential and office elements well underway at Ruskin Square, Platform's community events are providing a sense of the place to come in this part of Croydon."
