The Croydon Business Excellence Awards has had a record-breaking number of entries.
Submissions to the 15 categories is the most ever received by organisers White Label in their extensive history of organising awards programmes of this type.
The entries will now be vetted by independent shortlister Ross Sturley.
Ross, who is principal of Chart Lane, has an impressive CV having worked in the entertainment industry and business to business media, spending the last 20 years serving sectors as diverse as property, construction, science, global work and pharmaceuticals.
"I am thrilled to be working on the Croydon Business Excellence Awards and am impressed by the quality and depth of the entries," said Ross.
"When I agreed to act as shortlister I thought it would be hard work making the selection between so many worthy companies and entrepreneurs, but it's been even harder than I expected.
"All of those that have taken the trouble to get involved should be proud of their efforts up to this point and, with entries coming in from across the borough, the diversity and range of business has become abundantly clear."
Once a shortlist has been drawn up, businesses will be interviewed by an independent expert panel featuring prominent business people and sponsors.
Awards director Katharine Glass said: "The judging process has been designed to be robust and impartial. The judging day has been developed as an opportunity for more in-depth investigation through face-to-face interviews between the judges and the finalists."
As well as crowning a host of independent category winners, an overall Business of the Year will be announced on the evening.
The awards are being backed by Croydon Council and Croydon Chamber of Commerce and we are delighted to have a number of prestigious sponsors: Handelsbanken, Allianz, Croydon Business Venture, Croydon Advertiser, Interchange, Lark, Sussex Innovation Centre – Croydon, Veolia and Wing Yip.
